"Ew, I'm afraid to go to a chiropractor." "I wouldn't let a chiropractor touch my neck." "Besides, my doctor doesn't want me to go." Those readers who are chiropractic practice members appreciate the insanity of these attitudes. But the truth is, we all have to confront them all the time, if we are to get the truth of Chiropractic out to others, to help them.
Do realize that this stuff IS insanity. I don't care how sane and/or intelligent a particular person might be. If they harbor these thoughts, if they say these things, they are NUTS. I am not saying this to be nasty, or to get something off of my chest. I am saying this for your benefit, so that (1) you feel less abused, and (2) so that you'll be better able to cut through the insanity.
To those of you reading this who do harbor these thoughts, I do not apologize for my remarks. Look at it. You have no problem swallowing weird chemicals, with multiple side effects, which never get you better; they only maintain your problems. You actually believe it when your doctor gives you a new diagnosis, even relieved, even if it life-threatening. You are happy to "know what it is." OK, so now what? A diagnosis doesn't get you better. And more often than not, diagnosis is wrong. (How many times have you had multiple diagnoses from multiple specialists for the same condition?) A wrong diagnosis means that you are being treated for the wrong thing. But this folly doesn't seem to bother you, let alone frighten you.
Aspirin, which many don't even consider a drug, kills about 500 people a year, and is responsible for about 150,000 emergency hospital admissions. If you've been following my Facebook page, you'd know that recent studies show that very low levels of aspirin even increases cancer risk. What about your fancier drugs? But you're not afraid.
After some fancy imaging, you say "OK" to one more surgery, allowing people in masks to put you in a chemically induced state of near-death (general anesthesia), cut you open, and take parts out. The results are usually poor, but "the doctor said," so you're satisfied. No fear.
You see your health and your children's health deteriorate. Everywhere you look, you see someone with cancer. You see diabetes all over. You see kids with horrible diseases that hardly existed a couple of generations ago. You still have no fear.
Several years ago, depending upon one's reference, Medicine killed between 86,000 to over a million people a year. (Who knows what it is now.) If you are at all honest, you will admit that some loved one or friend was lost to medical error. No one knows anyone who died from chiropractic care. Why? The chiropractic death toll? ZERO.
People under regular, authentic chiropractic care usually don't have to "live with it." They actually get better... healthier. With no danger.
So what are people afraid of? You see now why I call this fear "Nuts?"
Get a grip. Help others to get a grip. Get adjusted. Allow your body to heal, to express more Life. That is nothing to be afraid of.
