For a long time, heart disease has been the biggest killer. #3 is stroke, which is also circulatory. So, add up #1 and #3, and the amount of death is staggering.
So much effort, so much money, goes to heart disease and stroke. So much is accepted as FACT. Every "breakthrough" loses it shine, if not outright collapses, in a few years. With everyone getting checked, and on blood pressure and cholesterol pills, no one should be getting a heart attack, right? Are you being fooled, on a massive scale? Or is society's focus just in the wrong direction.
What if your heart had the right nerve input, beating exactly as it should, when it should, reacting to differing conditions as it should? That would be a healthy heart.
Should you make sure that that nerve supply is as good as it can be? Can't get that from a cardiologist. Gotta go to a chiropractor for that.
February is Heart Health Month. You have a heart or circulatory history, or are currently having problems, living on multiple drugs for this... forever?
Seek health. Get adjusted.

Wellness... Scientifically Defined: Corte Madera chiropractor Dr Harte
We walk a lot about wellness. I have previously written about how the word has been hijacked and abused.
Looking through some of the scientific studies I have available in the office, I came upon one of my favorites, "Surrogate Indication of DNA repair in Serum After Long term Chiropractic Intervention - A Retrospective Study," by Campbell, Kent, Banne, Amiri and Pero, in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research.
Basically, this stuff in the blood (serum), serum thiol, is recognized as an indicator of the body's ability to repair it's own DNA. Contrary to what i was taught in school 100 years ago, our DNA is NOT static. Parts get turned on and off, depending upon life conditions (especially neurological). that's epigenetics, but a discussion of that is for another time. DNA, through life, gets damaged, and consequently, will not work as well. Yes the body can repair that damaged DNA. But how well?
This study shows that those under long-term wellness chiropractic care actually, verifiably, get wellness. This is why I say that Chiropractic is true health care. If you want the diagnosis and treatment of disease, which is Medicine, then go for it. You want health... wellness? Get checked for Vertebral Subluxation. Get adjusted.

Double your Drugs? wonders Corte Madera Chiropractor Dr Harte
Like some people watch sports on TV, I watch the drug ads, looking for the latest frightening trends of the latest fads in Medicine. Oh, I also check out the lawyer ads, looking for clients damaged or killed (in this case, their loved ones) from a particular drug or procedure. Hey, this is the only justice we get. The FDA? As they say in my native New York, FUGETTABOUTIT!!!
It seems a new, very frightening trend is, rather than replace a drug patients are taking with another, they are pushing the idea of adding another for the same symptom or condition. "If Scungilexa is not working as well as you expected, add Toxecia to your regimen. I have seen this for two conditions/circumstances.
For quite some time, the drug pushers (I forgot which one) has had ads out, "If your anti-depressants aren;t quite enough, add Abilify." What they don't tell you is Abilify is NOT and anti-depressant; it is anti-psychotic. As if anti-depressants aren't bad enough, anti-psychotics are considerably more dangerous. Some of their side effects are permanent, including tardive dyskinesia. (Google that one yourself. Frightening!)
The last few days, I have been seeing ads for Intuniv, a drug they say to throw at your ADHD child, who may not be totally perfect on his legal speed (Ritalin, Adderall, etc.) This one works on the frontal lobe. Charming, huh? Oh, and your child may faint.
Can't people see that this means that Big Pharma's much vaunted drugs just don't work? Why ad more junk that won't work, with more side effects?
Is this science, or is it fads? It can't be both. Think on that!
"Ew-ew-ew, but what else can I do? The Doctor said I need (my child needs) these medications." Really? Are you having mental troubles because of a lack of Lexapro or Ambilify? Is your child ADHD because of a deficiency of Ritalin and Intuniv?
Get to the cause. Free your brain and your nervous system, so that your brain and your body can function as it should. get checked. Get adjusted. And tell the people you care about.

Wellness, by Corte Madera Chiropractor Dr Harte
The PMG (Pharmaceutical-Medical-Governmental) Complex has
stolen the word, and the concept, “WELLNESS.” Wellness is kind of an updated
version of the concept of good health, or the more popular “healthy lifestyle.”
All the while, Kaiser Permanente, in their endless ads, insists that it will
help you “thrive.” Lotsa luck!
What
does Medicine have to offer in the way of health or wellness? NOTHING. I am not
saying that there is no place for Medicine, nor am I saying that Medicine is
populated by bad people. What I am bringing out to you is that the purpose, the
intent, of Medicine is NOT health, though it is commonly referred to as “health
care.” Medicine is, by definition, the diagnosis and treatment of disease. They
define and attack the disease, which has nothing to do with achieving wellness.
Realize
that everything Medicine does, essentially drugs and surgery, is “Outside-in.”
If we were born with a DEFICIENCY OF DRUGS AND AN EXCESS OF ORGANS, this
process would achieve health. Alas, this is not to be. Being brutally honest,
there is nothing in Medicine that promotes wellness.
Wellness,
or “the healthy lifestyle,” if you prefer, is based upon healing, and function,
from Above-down, Inside-out. People talk about the body’s ability to heal
itself. Harvard book-writing M.D.’s like Deepak Chopra and Andrew Weil have
become celebrities spouting this as revelation. Chiropractors have been saying
this since 1895.
Want
wellness? Eat well, exercise, rest well and maintain a healthy mental attitude.
MOST IMPORTANTLY? Achieve and maintain a healthy brain and nervous system, as
free as possible from interference… subluxation… so that they can control and
coordinate every cell, tissue, organ and system in the body for the benefit of
the whole. THIS IS CHIROPRACTIC.
You
might say that so-and-so is healthy. Well, they may not be obviously sick. But if
they are subluxated, by definition, they are not healthy. They are not well.
Regular
lifetime chiropractic care is THE most important factor in Wellness.

"Overdiagnosed?" asks Corte Madera chiropractor Dr Harte
I've been reading a very interesting book, OVER-DIAGNOSED: Making people sick in the pursuit of health.
I've long talked about the futility of diagnosis itself. This book examines all the harm done by over-diagnosing, of wrongly labeling people sick with a particular disease, and causing harm by the treatment.
In my opinion, this speaks to the current clamor for MORE in so-called health care; MORE testing, more screening, MORE drugs, MORE surgery, MORE access. Perhaps this is why the USA is, by far, #1 in medical spending, and so very far down in actual health statistics. MORE is not necessarily better; it is often worse.
Drs. Welch, Schwartz and Woloshin write about how, overnight, millions became patients when lab normals for blood pressure were dropped, or blood sugar. Or when imaging studies became so good that most people have some abnormaility. Whether that alleged abnormality has any pathological significance...
Yes, they even get into the over-diagnosis of many cancers, especially breast and prostate cancer.
Things to think on.

"Where to pursue health," asks Marin chiropractor Dr Harte
Where does health come from?
Does it come from fighting disease? No. Vanquishing a disease, suppressing symptoms, brings you no closer to health. in fact, the suppression of these natural processes often causes more serious problems in the future. Cause was not addressed.
Does health come from "prevention?" No. Vaccination brings about an artificial, non-normal immunity, and that's sometimes. Sometimes, it just doesn't work. At the same time, vaccination causes chronic inflammation, and dumps a terrible toxic loan into the body. Surely, you cannot poison yourself to health. Then, there is excessive, unwarranted treatment for "pre disease," such as pre-hypertension, or pre-diabetes. The treatment causes harm, bringing you further from health.
Does health come from "early detection?" Because of fiddling with "lab normals," mostly because of the influence of Big Pharma, so many previously healthy people are deemed sick, and then made truly sick by treatment. With better and better imaging technology, so much is detected that virtually everyone has abnormalities that can be construed as pathology. This is, in reality, early gathering of medical patients. This is not health.
Health is a condition of wholeness, in which all of the cells, tissues, organs and systems are working for the benefit of the whole. Should you eat well, exercise, get good rest and maintain a good attitude? You betcha.
THE most important factor in finding and maintaining health, with more improvement over the years, is lifetime wellness chiropractic care. Your own innate intelligence is freed to control and coordinate body and mind, when interference to the nervous system is corrected. Simple.

Risky Stroke Surgery: Comments from Corte Madera chiropractor Dr Harte
In yesterday's SF Chronicle was a sad story about one more medical/surgical catastrophe. Read it.
Just tonight, one of our practice members told me of a friend who had carpal tunnel surgery, got a nocosomial (hospital) infection in the bone, and ended up having his pinky cut off.
In what other industry would this level of poor result leading so so much misery be tolerated?
Is there another way? You betcha! I know what you're thinking. "Not for what I have." Right. in the end, everything is neurological. When there is interference in the messaging between the brain and the body, and the body to the brain, bad things happen. Get those interferences corrected, and good things happen. It's called health. Chiropractors give more than lip service to the idea, "The body heals itself." Of course it does.

Corte Madera chiropractor Dr Harte comments on Red Wine Fiasco
Today news came out that all of the studies saying that the consumption of red wine had a positive effect on cardiovascular health were falsified.
Time to think. Red wine isn't some blockbuster drug making billions for Big Pharma. It's been around since the ancient Greeks if not before. But this guy put out allegedly scholarly, allegedly scientific, allegedly peer-reviewed studies that made it "common knowledge" that red wine helps the heart. This even had a popular name, "The French Paradox."
Time to think. If research in favor of something as common and innocuous as red wine can be faked, successfully, for many years, what about all of the pharmaceutical research, with all the money riding on that?
Hey, you want good cardiovascular health? Make sure that the nerve supply to the heart, the blood vessels, and contributing organs (lungs, adrenals, thyroid, kidneys, etc.) is free of interference. For that, you get adjusted.
Go home, enjoy some red wine (or white, since it doesn't matter anymore), and think about this. Whom do you trust? In here, in my office, I encourage people to trust their own Innate Intelligence.

Dr Harte talks Real Health Care in the New Year
"Medicine concerns itself with disease and how men die. Chiropractic concerns itself with health, and why men live." - Clarence Gonstead, D.C.
Had enough yet? If you're not disgusted by the state of so-called health care, you're not paying attention. No, it's not for lack of money. The USA is #1 in health care spending, yet #49 in life expectancy (down from #29 in 1999). No, it's not from "lack of access." Often, the more medical care that one gets, the sicker one gets. Why?
Please read, again, the quote above. Realize that Medicine is the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Their intentions may be good, but the focus is disease, not health. you cannot get healthy by fighting disease, even by "prevention." Health is NOT from drugs or surgeries. As I have said before, if that were true, then the people who take the most drugs and who have had the most surgeries would be the healthiest. Feh.
The focus of Chiropractic is health. (No, the focus of Chiropractic is NOT backaches.) Your brain and nervous system runs every cell, tissue, organ and system in the body. Any interference will alter normal function. The most common interference is Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC). Chiropractors do not diagnose, nor do we treat. We correct interference to the nervous system, VSC, allowing the body to function at a higher level. No gimmicks. No breakthroughs that will become fodder for late night TV ads for lawyers doing class action suits. I was taught in school, "The wonder drug of today will be the blunder drug of tomorrow." Yes, this is true.
So, don't you think that real health care should help you to attain health? You'll never get there by chasing symptoms. You'll get there by allowing the body to function properly, without interference.

Eugenics and Medical Complicity by Corte Madera chiropractor Dr Harte
Today, it was reported that the State of North Carolina is making reparations to people who had had forced sterilizations. Are we going back ages ago? No. The last of this was in 1974. Many other states engaged in this, in the name of eugenics, for "improving the human race."
People are quick to point to political leaders for condemnation, and rightfully so. But this could not have been done without the active complicity of the medical profession. It was medical doctors who actually performed these forced sterilizations.
Go back in history. Psychiatrists, under Stalin, put political dissidents into mental hospitals, doing all sorts of horrific things. Then there was Dr. Mengele and his colleagues in the Nazi death camps.
This is just something to think about. When the PMG (Pharmaceutical-Medical-Governmental) complex thinks that they know best for you, and that they have the right to force you to do what they think is good for you, BEWARE.

"Is Medicine a Rip-Off?" asks Corte Madera chiropractor Dr Harte
A new Practice Member of mine, who just started, suffered a rear-end collision last month. No fractures, no blood and guts. But enough for her car to be totaled. Enough for her to be massively subluxated. Currently, she is in a great deal of pain. If these subluxations are left uncorrected, she very likely will suffer chronic pain and a variety of visceral complaints. Yes, she will likely get chronically sick from those subluxations sustained in that rear-ender. And, after some years, her spine will quickly advance into serious Subluxation Degeneration, what other people might call spinal arthritis. The medical folks will never understand this. There really is no place for them here.
Yet, before she came to me, because of her pain, she went to the emergency room, on two occasions. Nothing fancy was done, no MRI's, etc. In fact, nothing was done for her that had any value whatsoever. The bill for these two visits? Over $8,000, DISCOUNTED because she had no insurance. THIS IS ROBBERY. It is a disgrace!
And yet some people will bitch and moan over the $87 charge for an adjustment visit here. Here, in the Land of Straight Chiropractic, we deal with CAUSE. I correct CAUSE. this allows the body to heal itself. This is the only true healing.
Whatever chiropractic care ends up to cost, that cost is a joke compared to medical care. (Do you still think it's free because it's covered by your insurance? Does that insurance come from the sky?)
The detection, analysis and correction of Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC), which IS Chiropractic, is life-changing, even life-saving. If chiropractic care, freeing the body to function properly for a particular person, prevents a stroke eight years from now, or enables someone to dump their very dangerous psychiatric drugs, or finally get some sleep, or ends twenty-seven years of migraines, or enables a child to reach his or her genetic potential, WHAT IS THAT WORTH?
What do you think?
Medicine vs. Chiropractic? You might check out the very telling story on my website.
