Depression During the Holidays, viewed by Corte Madera Chiropractor

Some people tend toward the depressive side of things. When things are not right, family-wise or relationship-wise, the Holidays often deepen these feelings.

So, what's a chiropractor doing talking about depression? Do I treat depression? No! (I don't treat backache either.) What I deal with, as a straight chiropractor, is the nervous system. I adjust to correct interference (subluxation) to that system.

Contrary to what many think, the brain is not isolated in a box, the skull. It is, of course, part of the nervous system. The brain is contiguous with the cord and the nerves. Any interference, any torsion, anywhere in the spinal column, will effect the brain. Additionally, any interference to other organs will effect metabolism, which will effect the brain.

Instead of going on the made-up theory of "biochemical imbalance" as a cause of mental illness such as depression, and taking dangerous drugs in an absurd effort at balance, why not just do what makes sense? Correct interference to the nervous system. Then, the nervous system, including the brain, is free to work better.

No, getting adjusted does not change the problems that may surround you. But, it may help you deal with those problems, and put a smile on your face. Then, there's all the singing, dancing toys in my office and all the happy people.
